Monday: Two sick boys = 5 loads of laundry + shampooing carpet
End result: A house that smells lilac-y fresh with just a hint of barf
Tuesday: Take Lance in for speech screening. Looking for comfort and reassurance that child's speech is right on target. Child refuses to form coherent syllable. After much cajoling, then begging, child finally babbles, "ma ma ma mommy ba ma ba ba". Am given guidance on how to help poor, struggling child with speech difficulties.
Wednesday: Boys formally start gymnastics class. (Cost: One arm and one leg.) Hear Lance cry through much of class. Am informed afterward by teacher that Lance doesn't like to wait his turn. Alert the media...
Thursday: Playgroup. Goes well, until poor, unsuspecting child takes toy from Lance. Restrain Lance as he runs around the house in wild fit, looking for an object to throw. Catch him just before he grabs sunglasses off a counter with intent to fling across room.
Friday: Brian's DIAL-3 screening. When prompted to say alphabet, said child recites alphabet through P. "I'm done," he says. Child has known alphabet for 2 years. Stops at P. Stops at P!!
Fails to name body parts of elbow and wrist. Reassure self that child could have named butt, if asked. Does well on remainder of screening. Child informs teacher that she needs to hurry because "my fwiends are comin' over, and they will be woaming the stweets!"
